Made this ref sheet for :iconhetherev: though it also works big time for reference work for actual story stuff. Character belongs to Ballad story I'm working on with my cousin :iconmarcoman128:

Took a while, 3/4 of the whole work being writing/decorating. Big thanks to :iconj-z-belexes: for corrections :D
Background texture courtesy of :iconashley-lee: [link] and the fu monster stamp I finally got to use from old stencil stamp I made [link]
Red jap stamp idk what it means from internets. Hopefully it doesn’t read ‘soysauce’ or something like that

Town: Kobekan Mountains

Name: Pug Foo or 'P.F', he's pretty much unable to communicate his name however, so might have to settle for whatever it is that your characters call him

Height: P.F 7'1 Guardian Form 11'5

Weight: Fatass

Gender: Male

Age: 150 something ish

Species: Ballad Fu Dog. These fu dogs have some pretty distinct qualities from others, in that they’re based off ‘real’ dog breeds (pugs, poodles, dobers, etc.) but still fill the role of protectors and (generally) well-meaning creatures. They’re all versed in some martial art and it’s in their nature to aspire for a master title and become teachers at some point.
They’re unable to speak and do so instead by projection of images. Those who aren’t familiar with this ‘language’ will often find themselves clueless though after getting in-sync with the Fu it soon becomes as natural as having a conversation with anyone else.
All fu dogs are born from statues, and while no such thing as ‘fu puppies’ has been created, it is possible for a fu couple to infuse a statue of their own to create a puppy. (YES THEY HAVE TO SCULP STATUES TO HAVE BABIES)

Personality: P.F often appears cold and judgmental. He’s distant and extremely strict, and should he acquire a boss status within a group he’ll be perceived as a mean taskmaster. This would be an attitude he carries around with strangers and those he’s close with, though the later would be aware that he isn’t half the grumpy person he shows as and that before torturing others with his overbearing strictness his main concern is their well-being and progress. And that he’s also just a big puppy.

P.F isn’t easy to impress (coming from a world where pretty much anything is possible) but he’s not without a capacity to admire traits in others. He looks for the company of those he knows he can learn from and is attentive to their needs. Like a dog, he looks for company and he'd rather follow others than be the one leading (though still enjoys a position where he can boss around a bit).
He is very objective in terms of obedience and as long as it isn’t a tyrant the one in charge he will never question authority. He also shows a passion for teaching that is projected by a pushover attitude on those that he perceives in need of training or just helping whenever he can.

He’s a cynic (of the very grumpy kind) and is oftentimes irritated by people with overly enthusiastic moods or a non-objective view of things (usually just positive). He tends to resource to sarcasm (which is hard to convey as it is) and a cruel sense of humor. He’s got a devious side too and if the cause is right he will be okay with stepping out of his boundaries.

He’s meditative, perceptive and creative when he can and he tries to approach teaching with dynamism to fit his ‘student’s’ profile. Though that hardly means that it’ll be a nice smooth ride for those training under him.
He’s extremely protective of those he grows attached to (which isn’t something that’s easily perceived) and he will feel freer to show his gentler side around them. You never know how much he likes you until he’s suddenly indirectly asking for ear-scratches or brings you a frissbee.

Anything you feel very STRONGLY that your character NOT be drawn doing?:
He’s a character I often use for goofy situations, so feel free to do anything as long as he acts/reacts accordingly to things

Ask any doubts you’ve got—these include guessing what some of the pictures P.F communicates with may be! (sometimes it’ll be fun to just try figuring out where they come from)

oh, and yes. Pugs apparently can scream 'Batman' [link]
